Medical Surgical Services

On the Medical-Surgical Unit the job is challenging and rewarding. We take care of pediatric to geriatric patient populations. Patient diagnoses run the spectrum from the common cold to post-surgical care. A collaborative, team approach to patient care is utilized. The nurses work with the physicians and other disciplines (Respiratory Therapist, Physical Therapist, Social Services, etc.) within the hospital to coordinate and manage patient care and provide quality, evidence based care to the patients.

The quality care providers include Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, Nursing Assistants, Orderlies and Unit Clerks. All team members work together to provide safe, quality care to the patients. In an effort to promote a smooth transition to care outside of the hospital, patient self-care is a part of the patient’s overall plan of care. Patient and family education is provided as a part of the patient’s transition to their self-care environment.
